Guyanese VillageHello Brantfordians! The Guyanese, and Friends of Guyanese, are grateful to our sponsor The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #90 for enabling us to partake in the Annual Festival of Villages in our community, to showcase our Guyanese culture via atmosphere, food, dance, and music. Guyana was a once British owned colony atop the mainland of South America (320 miles from Trinidad; 400 miles from Barbados and St Lucia). Because of British influence the Trinidad land of calypso filtered into our own Native and British cultures. With a population of British, Native Indian, East Indian, Black, Chinese and Portuguese the food and dance reflects the diverse cultural mix. Our Caribbean Folk Performers will interpret and display some of the dance cultures. Apart from the services to our Vets, the Legion contributes to various Youth Programs. Its spacious Victory Hall can be rented by the public for various occasions. So, in your travels to the other Villages - Please …. come, spend some time with us. Hours
